72 year old woman tasered, 72 Year Old Woman Tasered! That’s right an old woman was tasered by the police during a traffic stop violation, according to My Fox Austin. According to the officer in charge of this, Kathryn Winkfein was speeding at 60 MPH in a construction zone.

In an insane statement, local police says that this was the right course of action!

What happened? Well, the woman got out of the car, started screaming profanities and attacked a policeman. At that point, he simply tasered her and sent her to jail. This is what Kathryn said:

“I wasn’t argumentative, I was not combative. This is a lie. All of this is a lie, pulled away from him I did not,”

To protect herself, she has hired a lawyer. This of course sound like fake news, but well, this is all real. Isn’t tasered supposed to be used on dangerous people. Can’t a policeman simple control the situation without using a taser?

“You have a two-tier government, your inner circle and then the remainder of cabinet,” Europe Minister Caroline Flint said in a letter to British premier Gordon Brown, hours after he ignored her for promotion Friday.

“Several of the women attending cabinet - myself included - have been treated by you as little more than female window dressing,” added Flint, who had declared fierce loyalty to Brown Thursday night.

She announced her move just as the beleaguered British leader faced cameras in a live press conference following a cabinet reshuffle prompted by rebel ministerial resignations aimed at forcing Brown to step down.

The pro-Labour Guardian newspaper, frontpaging a much-reproduced photograph of Flint in a short red dress and red stilettos reclining on a sofa, said Saturday Brown “has never been a great admirer of Flint’s political abilities”.

“Downing Street’s views of Flint was reinforced last month when she posed for a series of model-style shots in Observer Woman magazine” - a sister publication of The Guardian.

“Figures close to Brown were irritated that Flint was finding time to pose for the cameras while they felt she had yet to master the highly intricate details of her brief as Europe minister,” the paper said.

Flint, 47, is often described as one of Britain’s sexiest politicians, and has often been photographed arriving at 10 Downing Street in slit skirts or knee-high boots.

The Daily Mail said Saturday: “Last year, the Europe minister pulled off the impressive feat of stealing the Budget Day headlines from the Chancellor by strolling up Downing Street in a skirt split to the thigh.

Ankita wins an ITF tournament after two years, New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) Top seed Ankita Bhambri claimed the singles title in the $10,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament with a 6-3, 6-2 win over China’s Chun-Yan He at the DLTA complex here Saturday.
Ankita, who made a second round exit in the first of the back-to-back ITF tournaments last week did not drop a set in the entire second edition and has pocketed $1,568 and 12 WTA points for the win. He received $980 and eight WTA pointsfor her showing.

It was Ankita’s first ITF title in two years, her last being in November 2007 on clay courts of Aurangabad, beating younger sibling Sanaa in the final. Ankita, however, did make two final appearance last year, in the $25,000 ITF event in Gurgaon in June and in Lagos in October.

He, who advanced to the final after second seed Anastasia Malhotra of Japan pulled out midway her semi-final, complaining giddiness, committed far too many errors.

Ankita broke back, and won the match, converting her fourth match point.

A relieved Ankita said it has indeed been a long wait.

“Though I began playing well towards the end of last year, I wasn’t able to win any title. It had been a really long time, therefore, this win is quite refreshing, ” Ankita said.

“I know it will take me some more time to play my usual game. I need to work on my fitness and play more matches.

“I am happy with the way I played today’s match, but I am getting broken when serving for the set or the match. It is not that it plays on my mind, but may be it’s a little pressure as your opponent goes all out with nothing to lose,” said Ankita, who may fly to Pattaya to play in another $10,000 ITF.

four-wicket victory over England in Twenty20 World Cup as a “historic” moment for Dutch cricket.

The Netherlands gave a spectacular start to the Twenty20 World Cup, shocking England in the opener at Lord’s Friday.

Smits and his team celebrated wildly after the dream victory.

“This result speaks for itself, doesn’t it? It’s a huge victory. Without doubt, the biggest day in Dutch cricket history,” Smits said.

The team is brimming with confidence and the skipper said they would be looking to cause a few more upsets.

“It’s a massive boost for Dutch cricket. Now we are looking to qualify for the Super Eights and maybe the semi-finals.”

Set a target of 163 runs, the Netherlands won the match in the last ball with Tom de Grooth smashing 49 and Peter Borren 30.

The victory sparked joyous celebration amongst their players and fans at a full-capacity Lord’s.

“This is a dream. To be out there today in front of a full house was amazing. I was in the zone. We went out there to play brave cricket and make England sweat a bit.”

The Netherlands players are not full-time professionals and are losing money as a result of taking part in the competition.

Smits recalled that in 1989 Netherlands beat an England A team featuring the likes of Test players Nasser Hussain, Alec Stewart and Derek Pringle. They had another impressive victory against an Australia side in 1964.

But he said winning against a full international side and that, too, in World Cup was a different feeling.

“We beat England A in 1989 but last year when we played in the Belfast qualification tournament for this event I said to the guys I had a goal to play in the opening match of the World Twenty20 at Lord’s.

“I’m really proud of the boys. It’s costing us a lot of money as we will all have to get more time away from work. I’m having to take extra days off work but I really don’t mind at this moment.

“I said to the boys in the dressing room we are going to do it today, play hard, play your shots, we have got nothing to lose.”

A 23-year-old American rancher, whose family was in financial difficulties after falling behind on their taxes, struck gold when he won a 232.1-million dollar lottery jackpot on June 5.

Neal Wanless, who lives on his family’s 320-acre ranch near Mission, South Dakota, had bought the ticket from the nearby town of Winner late last month during a trip to buy livestock feed.

The family’s mobile home had also been repossessed, and it was a stroke of luck that he won one of the largest undivided jackpots in US history.

“I want to thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity and blessing me with this great fortune. I will not squander it,” the Telegraph quoted Wanless as saying about his good fortune.

Wanless spent last week baling hay and doing other jobs around his family’s ranch, and he said he intended to continue ranching, albeit on a slightly larger scale.

“It’d be nice if we go for a longer ride than usual on a bigger ranch of our own,” he said he told his horse, Eleanor.

Wanless also added that he intends to use the money to help those in need.

“My family has been helped by the community and I intend to repay that help many times over,” he added.

The total amount he will be taking home in a lump sum payment after taxes are deducted is 88.5 million dollars. (ANI)
